Parametric Robot Programming
No separate program is written for each size in a product family. The operator enters the dimensions and the robot program is generated from them.
The technology's role in the cell
In products such as transformer tanks, tipper bodies or agricultural frames the geometry is the same and only the dimensions change. Writing and storing a separate program for every size eventually produces an unmanageable program library: hundreds of files with no clear indication of which one is current.
In parametric programming the weld path is not fixed but defined as a rule bound to dimensions. The operator enters a few values at the panel, such as length, height or plate thickness; the system computes seam coordinates, pass count and welding parameters from those values.
The gain sits in two places: programming time for a new size drops to almost nothing, and the program library collapses into a single source of truth. This is the method with the highest impact in small-batch, high-variety production.
