System Overview

What the system does

In chassis production the dimensional gap between models is wide: the same line welds both a 2.5-tonne and a 24-tonne frame. A separate fixture and layout for each model would make the line unusable.

Here an 18-metre synchronised slider runs under robot control as a 7th axis: the robot keeps welding while travelling along X, so the seam is not broken on a 7-metre frame. Two 3,000 kg positioners with universal cradles allow different chassis models to be mounted quickly.

The robot hangs from an inverted boom, which is how the seams inside the frame are reached.
