System Overview

What the system does

In a shipyard two things are true at once: the parts are very large, and no two are exactly alike. Tolerances carried over from cutting, forming and assembly vary from panel to panel, and a robot running a fixed program cannot see that variation.

This portal looks before it welds. Four cameras on the bridge scan the part, the scan data is analysed, and the weld path is derived from the real geometry of that particular part. The operator does not have to write a program for every new piece.

The result shows up in three places: programming time for a new part drops, weld quality becomes repeatable from part to part, and automation genuinely pays off on long, large workpieces. The portal runs on two rails, with a welding power source and a torch cleaning station at each leg, so consumables and maintenance are handled without entering the robot's working area.
