What the system does
In structural steel the part is long, heavy and different on every order. Welding the two sides of a beam in sequence means crane time to turn the part.
Here two robots hang inverted from a single 24-metre slider and work in sync, welding both sides of a long beam simultaneously. The face spacing of the 5,000 kg dual positioner sets adjusts to part length.
Where every order differs, programming is the real bottleneck; welding programs are generated directly from the 3D CAD model with MOSES ARC22. ARC Sense and automatic torch recovery remove the need to reprogram after a collision.
