Reel Welding Cell with Twin Turntables
Side wall and body joints on Ø560–800 mm cable reels in one cell; two turntables keep the robot from waiting.
- Product Diameter
- Ø560 / 630 / 800 mm
- Product Length
- 400 – 570 mm
- Positioners
- 2 × turntables, 500 kg
- Process
- Pulsed MIG/MAG
What the system does
On a rotationally symmetric part the seam runs around the circumference and must not be interrupted. Holding the part still and walking the robot around it is inefficient in both reach and cycle time.
Here 500 kg single-axis positioners rotate in sync with the robot: the reel turns while the robot stays put, and the circumferential seam is completed without a break.
The two-station layout also solves cycle time; while the robot welds one reel, the operator loads the other. The whole reel family, Ø560, 630 and 800 mm in diameter and 400–570 mm long, is handled by a single program.
What sets this system apart
- Two alternating stations
- 500 kg turntables synchronised with the robot
- The whole product family in one program
- Stable arc with a pulsed process
